My week in words:

1/2lb on!! I was slightly surprised although not shocked.  I have put it down to the fact I went out Friday night with some friends to a Chinese buffet.  I was fairly restrained and hope it was just that.  I am confident in what I am doing, I am feeling well, fit and happy and so next week will continue on doing what I am doing.

That’s the plan!

Because, as I have spoken about in Dealing with disappointment it is about looking at the bigger picture.  But so much depends on what’s between your ears. It can break you, or you can look back and realise that this little hiccups have made your success all the sweeter.  I’m hoping for the latter.

All the best,

My week in words:

Very pleased! Very pleased! Very pleased!  1 ½ lbs, I always consider, a nice steady weight loss.  I have been pretty good all week-the only blip at the weekend I had a couple of cakes.  But then on the positive that was it.  No “oh dear my diet’s gone”. Just continue with what I have been doing.  And I have been enjoying it.  Some lovely recipes-the sweet and sour chicken was gorgeous- and am loving the exercise especially getting a new PB at parkrun and even enjoying zumba!  I just want to keep in this groove for as long as I can…

I hope that your week was good too.

My week in words:

1lb off.  A loss is a loss, and after two weeks ago’s disappointment and then the great loss last week I am not too upset.  What has pleased me is that I am still “in the groove”.  Talking to many of my friends at Slimming World, a lot of them have fallen off the wagon and some have been more successful than others getting back on to it. But I have stayed focused, kept up with my exercise regime (apart from missing zumba as my knee was twinging a little) and have enjoyed it.  It would be lovely to lose 3lb every week but I would be happy to look back at a month and have lost ½ stone.  And continue to enjoy my food, keep control and enjoy exercising.  So far, so good!

I hope that your week was good!

A much better result on the scales this week.  Although whatever it said I feel so much better.  I feel that I am making good choices; I am (mainly) enjoying my exercise (Zumba incident apart) and my food.  It was nice to get a compliment at work, and am hoping that my clothes will start to feel a little bit looser soon.  And did I mention how much I am enjoying the exercise?  It makes such a difference not just to weight loss but to my self-esteem.  I am hoping my enjoyment and motivation stays high!

Hope your week was good!

Dealing with disappointment

scales and measure drawing

I can’t lie.  Getting off the scales this week I was very disappointed.  I had exercised a great deal, was feeling fabulous and kept to the plan fairly well.  But the scales didn’t show that.  It was a loss, 1/2lb, but I felt it should have been more.

When you are losing weight you can often feel disappointed; disappointed that you have fallen off the wagon, disappointed that other people seem to shed weight a lot easier and for me the worst disappointment is when you feel you have worked hard but you don’t get the rewards.

So how can we get through this?  It is so tempting to think “it’s not worth it”, “why should I bother?” and fall back into bad habits. But in the end it’s only ourselves we are cheating.

Some positives I have taken from this week are that at times I have made good choices, such as trying Bodypump and parkrun.  I have felt so much better in myself and had some compliments.  Sometimes it is important to celebrate the little victories and remember them. It’s also vital to remember the bigger picture; why are we doing this?  What do we want to achieve?  We need to remember that this is a small part of our journey, and not a complete roadblock.

So I am going to try again this week, and hope that the scales make me happier when I weigh in again.  But I believe I am on the right track and that has given me confidence to keep going and not lose heart.

My advice if you are disappointed is;

Think of all the little victories during the week such as taking the stairs, saying no to desert.

Keep in mind the bigger picture and your longer term goals.

Use your support network, that is what they are there for.

My week in words:

Half a pound!  Half a pound! Yes I was disappointed when I stepped off the scales.  I felt I had a good week.  I have been exercising more than ever (including trying bodypump and parkrun for the first time, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed).  I have been eating well and do feel so much better for it, and have mainly stuck to the plan. I say mainly as last Saturday my daughter and I had a baking day and I enjoyed homemade quiche, bread and flapjacks as we were going to a picnic (we ended up going bowling instead due to the torrential rain but still ate the food!) and later in the week we went to a Chinese buffet where I tried to make as good  choices as I could.  So perhaps not as good as I could have been, but still disappointing.  So I am disappointed but not downhearted or defeated.  And looking forward to more bodypump and parkrun.

Hope you have had a good week.

My week in words:

Overall a satisfying week.  2 1/2lbs off is always good, especially as we had one meal out (TGIF-I tried to be good, but…).  I was really pleased to keep up with my running plan, and also visit the gym so much (yah school holidays!) and have to say I am enjoying exercising at the moment.  Other than the meal out I have stuck to plan and have cooked some delicious meals.  Cottage pie, lasagne, bang bang chicken noodles and Burmese chicken and coconut kaukswe curry went down very well with the family and I have enjoyed my syns too.  So a successful week and a happy Woody!

Hope you have had a good week too.
